Each Task 6 participating country was responsible for the design, construction, and monitoring of at least one solar energy system utilizing evacuated tubular collectors (ETC), a high performance collector. The eleven installations covered the full range of applications, a wide range of ETC designs, and a wide range of climatic regions, enabling significant comparisons to be drawn regarding collector and system performance.

Following the experimental phase, participants documented the thermal performance and the reliability and durablility of ETC collectors. In addition, a series of reports on collector characterization, detailed and simplified modeling, and design guidelines were also produced. Major information transfer activities also took place through presentations at solar energy conferences and material on ETC in a design manual for architects and engineers.

Scope

  • Monitoring system performance
  • Development of computer models
